Our Founders

Marry Ann Wright & Agnes Perrone

In 1948, two young women, Mary Ann Wright, a cerebral palsy victim, and Agnes Perrone, a polio victim, created the Mancus Club to “help the handicapped help themselves.” Membership grew by 1962 the club became the Mancus Foundation, complete with a board of directors and officers to guide the growing group. Agnes passed away in 1972 after 24 years of service. Mary Ann passed away in 2006 after leading the Mancus Foundation for 58 years as president.

Mancus is the first and one of the only non-profits in Delaware dedicated to serving the social, recreational, and transportation needs for all physically and developmentally challenged individuals regardless of their disability. Mancus continues to grow and provide services to Delawareans thanks to donations from generous supporters and help from our dedicated volunteers.
